Absence does make the heart grow fonder in the case of Faye Wong.
After a five-year hiatus, the pop diva proves that she has still got it. Sales for her concerts have been booming even though it is just in the pre-order phase.
The former diva is set for a comeback with a concert tour, starting from Beijing and Shanghai.
Pre-order sales began last Friday and according to the ticketing officials, sales have gone off the charts.
Even with such a warm reception from fans, Faye reportedly turned down requests from the organizing committee for an additional performance in a larger venue.
Her reason?
When the venue is bigger than one that can hold 30,000 people, she would be too far away from her fans.
The star revealed that she would want to feel the energy and response from the crowd; if the venue is too big, she would not be able to feel that.
She added that fans would probably be seeing a tiny figure of her on stage and that defeats the purpose of going to a concert.
Earlier, reports suggested that Faye was making a comeback due to financial difficulties. However, it was also said that the comeback concert was simply a result of a casual conversation with her manager, in which she confided that she misses the stage.
With the pop diva's well-known tendency to do things as she like and the concern she showed about expanding the concert space, it is probably more likely she yearns to go on stage and perform for those who truly adore her.
